West Springfield, MA Stamp Show - Part 1

Hi everyone, Steph here again with a "behinds the scene" look at setting up for a stamp show.  Check out some prior posts on setting up for the Syracuse, NY show.

The Stamp Doctor was setting up this show at the West Springfield, MA the first weekend of June, 2014.  While no deer was injured getting to this show, The Stamp Doctor's vehicle decided it needed some repair work before it could begin it's journey back to Boise, ID.  Never a dull moment!!!

So, after getting the racks and backdrop in place, The Stamp Doctor went to repair her vehicle while Mom and I got the booth in order.

I took some photos to give you an idea of all that goes on to get ready for a show.

Mom is busy putting out product.

Signs and display boards are hung so customers can see how to use the products.

The demo table is ready with samples.

Set up is done and we are now ready for the weekend.  Time for dinner and a good night's sleep.

Stop back later this week for a look at the weekend's fun.

Syracuse, New York Stamp Show - Part 2

Hi everyone, Steph here again with Part 2 of the "behind the scenes" look at setting up for a show in Syracuse, New York.

It takes most of Friday to get the booth set up and the product organized.  I was lucky enough to teach a class Friday morning and then we had 83 people that evening for a make and take party.  It was a long day, but the make and take party was fun.

A demo table is set up in front of the booth so The Stamp Doctor can demo a variety of products and techniques and it was one of the show's highlights.

While customers shopped the booth, they could also see the new Stamp Doctor dies in action and learn some tips and tricks for using assorted products from glue pads to embossing powders to sticky paper, and more.

Saturday and Sunday were busy with customers, demos and our make and take table.  The Stamp Doctor dies (Pop-a-Top 17, Pop-a-Top 18 and the Center Step Dies and coordinating dies) were a hit as we showed customers how to use them in lots of different ways.

Unfortunately the show does end and promptly at 4pm on Sunday, we began the arduous task of packing up.  At this point, it has been a long weekend and we are exhausted, but we still have lots to do.  So, as we put everything together Friday morning, it now has to be taken apart, the product has to be secured for the next show and it has to be loaded back onto the trailer and secured so it arrives safely at it's next location.

Now, it's onto the next show at the Better Living Center in West Springfield, MA.

We hope you'll stop back next week for more photos and highlights of that show.

Syracuse, New York Stamp Show - Part 1

Hi everyone, Steph here today with "behind the scenes" photos of setting up for a stamp show.

The Stamp Doctor was heading to a Syracuse, New York and asked me to help out.  I can't tell you how excited I was, but I had no idea of the work involved!!!  We set up for this show at the SRC Arena and Events Center at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse the last weekend of May, 2014.  I thought I'd take some photos to give you an idea of all that goes on to get ready for a show.

The product and display grids are transported in The Stamp Doctor's vehicle and attached trailer.  This trip was a long one as The Stamp Doctor journeyed from Boise, ID to Syracuse, NY.  While they did have one deer mishap along the journey, they did arrive in one piece.  My husband and I drove up from Long Island, a five hour journey, so we were a lot closer than The Stamp Doctor.

The main backdrop for the products consists of white metal grids that have been assembled with hinges to gain additional height.  Approximately 16 grids are physically carried from the trailer and assembled together on site.  And, yes, they are heavy.

Once the grids have been assembled, it's time to get the product in order.   Here's The Stamp Doctor herself, Mechele Rudd, working on the booth.

While product was being hung and rearranged, the white backdrop was placed behind the racks and the sign was placed above the products.

We even enlisted my husband, Gary, to help out.

The Stamp Doctor's Mom was involved this weekend, too, helping set up everything and taking care of customers.  Way to go, Mom.

Sample boards are displayed above the products giving customers tons of ideas and inspiration to use The Stamp Doctor products as well as the numerous other products sold in the booth.  A row of flowers is added below the display boards to add some color to the booth and to fill in some non-product areas.

There are racks of Spellbinders products, Lost Coast Stamps, Earth Art International Stamps, Stamplistic Stamps and so much more.  There is a lot to do and the booth is still a mess.

Check back later this week for Part 2 of the Syracuse Show to see what happens next.

Have a wonderful day.
